A Quiet Getaway for Pastors

“Jesus made it a regular habit to get away from the crowds so He could reconnect with His Father. If He needed to, how much more do we?” asks Jon Beight, executive director of  Twin Lakes Camp and Conference Center in Hillsboro, Ind. The retreat center, addressing the needs of pastors, provides a quiet place away from the distractions of ministry. Pastoral staff can use the center’s low-cost, self-contained home to enhance their ministry while taking advantage of the camp’s beautiful setting. “Think of it like a condo at a resort without the cost or noise, ” Jon says. Pastors who have been in the ministry for at least 12 months may rent the cottage  from one to four weeks at $100 per week. Available September through May, the ranch-style home has a kitchen, living room, two master suites, and three additional bedrooms.

This pastoral getaway can be used for spiritual renewal, physical refreshment, marriage enrichment, strategic planning , project planning, and intensive study. The home has a capacity of 10 people, making it conducive for church staff planning or team-building retreats. For individual retreats, a pastor may bring his wife and/or family. The camp offers the opportunity for canoeing, fishing, hiking, and communing with the Lord on a 20-acre prayer trail.
